Building Large Assemblies in Our Full-Service Precision Machine Shop

It’s no great secret, yet we’ve discovered that many Accurate CNC Services customers don't know about one of our most valuable, time-saving services: building large assemblies.

After precision machining individual parts, we can complete the job by expertly constructing assemblies that are:

  • Joined with hardware

  • Fashioned with resin, glue, and other adhesives

  • Welded

Of course, we also do smaller assembly work, such as installing bearings, bushings, and Heli-Coils. But building larger assemblies is a lesser-known specialty many job shops don’t offer.

Here’s a look at our assembly process and how you can benefit from trusting our full-service shop for precision machining and assembly services.

Need Complex Assemblies? We Can Do That!

Precision machine shops often equate complex assemblies with risk, so they avoid projects that demand intricate assembly work. Call us weird; call us bold; or even blame our Northwestern tenacity. . . at Accurate CNC, we love crafting complex assemblies and never shy away from the challenge!

Design for assembly

While we trust you to design the exact assembly you need, we also take the time to review each customer’s model before proceeding with manufacturing and assembly. If at any point we identify an issue that can be solved with a small design change, we’ll reach out to you to discuss your options and help you get an exceptional finished product.

Mix and match manufacturing and assembly services

Our experts provide manufacturing and assembly solutions for customers who:

  1. Have the components and merely need assembly services

  2. Want us to source the components from a preferred supplier and then assemble them

  3. Need full-service precision machining and assembly services from our shop

No matter your unique needs, we have a solution.

Our Precision Machine Shop’s Approach to Manufacturing Complex Assemblies

For one repeat customer, Accurate CNC regularly manufactures and assembles two seemingly simple products that pose some surprising challenges:

  • Door guides

  • Welded blockers

Both jobs involve a series of steps that, when executed properly, result in a premium product. A few of the processes we regularly provide for these projects include:

  • Acrylic machining

  • Plastic bending to a 45-degree angle

  • PVC machining

  • Stiffener panel application

  • Machining or outsourcing the hardware

Now let’s dig deeper to understand the assembly approach to both projects.

Example: door assembly

Customers who request door assemblies often prefer to streamline their own workflows by ordering comprehensive manufacturing services. For these projects, our team buys the materials, builds the frames, and performs the assembly utilizing:

  • Two machined PVC end frames

  • One machined and formed impact-resistant acrylic panel

  • Various purchased components, including a panel stiffener and nuts and bolts

Example: welded and machined assembly

To make blocker assemblies for our customer, our precision machine shop machines each individual component before welding the eight machined parts into a box shape. Next, we set up the blocker for additional precision machining on every side of the box, ensuring perfect square angles with a beautiful machined finish.

Significant time, money, material, and labor go into manufacturing and assembling these welded blockers—and we’re proud to be the sole production partner for the customer who orders them!

Sometimes an assembly that looks great on your computer screen won’t translate smoothly into the real world. Our team can help you address and remedy any issues quickly and effectively.

  2. Streamlined workflow.
