Expanding Our 3D Printing Capabilities to Deliver Flexible Solutions for Every Customer

3D printing offers fast, flexible, cost-effective solutions for rapid prototyping and custom parts, increasing efficiency across a wide range of projects.

At Accurate CNC, our expertise in 3D printing allows us to collaborate with customers to evaluate their needs and provide clear guidance on whether 3D printing is the best fit for their components.

Growing Our 3D Printing Capabilities

3D printing

We’ve offered 3D printing since early 2024. Since then, both our knowledge and our fleet of printers have expanded.

Our 3D printing department includes six 3D printers (fondly nicknamed Bambi, Bart, Bayla, Baxxi, Barry, and Bella) and supports consistent production runs, including repeat orders.

For one customer, we regularly run full plates of 30 parts in a 12-hour cycle. Because our machines can run continuously, 3D printing increases efficiency on our shop floor while maintaining consistency.

Accurate CNC’s 3D Printing Expertise

After years of research and hands-on testing of 3D printing best practices, our team knows exactly what makes a part a good candidate for this service. And through extensive experimentation with nozzle types, materials, and print settings, we’ve developed the knowledge needed to recommend the best method for each part.

We work with customers to:

  • Optimize designs for manufacturability

  • Select the right materials and printing techniques

  • Improve part performance and quality

  • Reduce lead times and costs

  • Provide flexible, custom solutions

We also test for longevity, fade resistance, and functional fit, so customers know exactly what to expect from their parts.

Providing Custom Solutions With 3D Prints

Our Idaho machine shop uses 3D printing to support a variety of industries and applications.

In one case, a company developing aquatic research instruments initially came to us seeking a different manufacturing method. After reviewing project requirements, we suggested 3D printing as a faster, more cost-effective solution.

The original design included complex features, such as slotting and threading, which would have required costly machining. By switching to 3D printing, the customer reduced both lead time and cost while also gaining the flexibility to adjust the design as needed.

We have also used 3D printing to produce top-quality custom fog light bezels and replicate the coin slot design on a vintage Coca-Cola vending machine by reverse engineering the originals and printing prototypes to ensure proper fit.

3D Printing for Effective Prototyping

3D printing

Our rapid prototyping services have advanced with the addition of 3D printing, which is especially useful for early-stage concepts where speed and flexibility are priorities.

One individual came to us looking to recreate an armrest bracket for a 1987 VW Vanagon. After developing multiple prototypes and different texture samples, we successfully reproduced the part to match the original!

Because 3D printing materials are often more affordable than traditional alternatives, we can produce thin, low-cost prototypes quickly. This allows us to test fit before committing to final production and gives customers the ability to explore form and function without high costs.

Supporting Our Own Operations

With our 3D printing capabilities, we have also improved our internal efficiency by producing in-house fixtures and replacement components on demand.

For example, when tooling cups for our tool changer break, we can print new ones in-house, eliminating downtime and keeping production moving. 3D printing is a fast, simple solution for one-off parts and replacement plastic components.
